What great ape adoptions do you have?
I currently have 2 chimps: Janet in Cameroon (Ape Action Africa) Simon at Monkey World in UK
I previously had Lola (chimpanzee) at Monkey World and Avishag (gorilla) with AAA, Kesi (orangutan) with BOS (it became much more expensive) and an orangutan with WWF but we were never close!
Time for a new one I think!

Janet is gorgeous, I've seen her on 'Going Ape' when she was little- Simon is lovely too!
I'm currently adopting one of my very favourite chimps, Seamus at Monkey World, and Kyko as well (a Christmas present from Mum). I'm also adopting young gorilla Nona at Ape Action Africa's sanctuary in Cameroon.
I'd like to adopt one of the chimpanzees at Chimp Eden, maybe Suzie or Marco... it's so hard to choose!

I'm looking for another one, I was thinking maybe a Sumatran orangutan if possible, or one of the Lola Ya Bonobos but Chimps Eden is a possibility.

It's so hard to choose, there's so many worthy ape organizations that one would like to support. I looked at adopting a bonobo at Lola, but it was a bit out of my price range. Who would you go through to adopt a Sumatran orang? I know Australian Orangutan Project has Sumatran babies for adoption, but most groups are Borneo focussed

All I've seen so far is planting trees in Sumatra! Very worthwhile but not what I had in mind!

Here's the link for AOP, I'm pretty sure they can send them overseas (the adoption packs- not the actual orangutans of course!), and they are quite affordable. I think Miriam is GORGEOUS! I used to adopt Jarot. www.orangutan.org.au/adoptions-new?Page=2&Items=12I'm also thinking about adopting through Save the Chimps, I'd love to further support them, their work is really amazing. I am very much inspired by the late Carole Noon.

It's hard to imagine the scale of the Save the Chimps operation. Yes Carole Noon was one of those amazing people who actually makes things happen.
Rachel Hogan cancelled her trip to London (which I never actually got tickets for) because of a chimp rescue, I guess it was the one they've just mentioned coming from Equatorial Guinea.
I'll check out AOP.

The twins are gorgeous, such a lovely story.
I hope all goes well for the EG chimp, it's a shame that Rachel had to cancel but with such important work to do it must be unavoidable.

I met some really nice people in London Zoo who had flown in from Jersey to London to see Rachel. Because of the cancellation, they decided to stay a few days and visit the zoo and see the London gorillas.
As well as my adopted chimp in Monkey World, I'm going to adopt another one from Chimp Eden.

You're adopting Hebe aren't you? I used to adopt her as well, but I ended up adopting too many so had to cut back. Any idea who you'll adopt at Chimp Eden? They're all so lovely.

Yeah, Hebe is my adopted chimp. I adopted Johni one year, too! I wish I could adopt all the chimps at Chimp Eden, they are indeed all lovely. I have decided to adopt Charlene, she's really sweet!

Well I now have a new gorilla. I tried to donate to AAA in the big give but they'd run out of matched funding so to console myself I adopted Nona the gorilla.
I went to buy a Christams tree and they were £30 even for small ones and I thought for £30 I could adopt an animal so it's up in the loft for the fake tree and a new adoption for me... not decided who or where yet.

That's lovely, Nona is a very beautiful little gorilla. What a nice thing to do for Christmas.
